Our Inspiration

Ryan Talaga
Live LaMore Foundation

“What a difference a day makes.” I reflect on this phrase each day while sipping my morning coffee at home. It’s written on a living room canvas with important dates: my wife’s birthday, my birthday, our anniversary date, and the birthdates of our two boys. Now more than ever, this caption holds a heavy weight in my heart when I think about another date that changed my life, and my family’s life, forever: November 11th, 2022. It’s the day I said my final goodbye to my dear brother-in-law, Aaron LaMore.

Before Aaron left this earth late that night, he gave one last gift to this world: his organs. Aaron was a United States Army veteran and, in the most fitting way, he made his final, selfless act on Veterans Day. The University of Chicago held a Hero’s Walk in his honor, just before midnight, as he saved multiple lives that day.

Aaron lived his life with generosity - it’s how I will always remember him. Aaron’s selfless act and giving spirit inspired me to form a charitable organization in his honor: The Live LaMore Foundation. Our mission is to raise money for The Gift of Hope and various Veteran organizations throughout the Chicagoland area.

HOW YOU ARE HELPING OTHERS

The gift of hope

The decision to become an organ and tissue donor offers a precious gift to others: hope for a new life!

At Gift of Hope, we coordinate the organ and tissue donation process and provide education about the importance of organ and tissue donation to the public and healthcare professionals in Illinois and northwest Indiana.

As one of 57 organ procurement organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation’s donation system, we work with 180 hospitals and serve more than 12 million people in our donation service area.

Since 1986, our efforts have saved the lives of more than 23,000 organ transplant recipients and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of tissue transplant recipients.

Veterans organizations

Our mission is to support our local Veterans who have served or are currently serving in our United States Armed Forces.

Manteno High School

For the 2023-2024 school year, we will donate two scholarship opportunities to the students of Manteno High School.
